CHORUS CAD: a powerful and flexible measuring and inspection software, which provides full access to a number of powerful integrated functions, ranging from basic dimensional measurement to surface generation and analysis. CHORUS CAD through its bi-directional CAD interface downloads 3D part models to create a graphical representation of the part for use in generating part programs and producing pictorial graphical reports. Direct access to GD&T information included in the CAD model eliminates the need to manually enter data. Inspection results can be uploaded directly to the CAD system for reverse engineering applications.

CHORUS CAD / SURFER NT

Chorus CAD is composed of four self-contained modules, that can be installed either separately or on the same computer.

Chorus CAD Verify

This interactive graphic measuring software has been developed in MS Windows environment to cope with the growing demand for slashing time and spending for design and development of components with free-form surfaces.
Chorus CAD facilitates integration of all product-related activities, such as design, modification, optimization, manufacturing and dimensional inspection.

The system can import a mathematical model by reading it or by means of a wide range of CAD interfaces, and perform these tasks:

• automatic identification of the geometrical features of a CAD file

• generation of theoretical features - not defined in the original CAD file - for defining the measurement strategy

• automatic procedure for defining and qualifying the probes required

• automatic generation of XYZ IJK files for the FIVE U-nique software to create fixturing columns

• part alignment using procedures based on points, geometric and prismatic elements, RPS, best fitting

• development of measurement strategies (points, grids, isoparametric curves, sections, edges, geometric and prismatic elements, profiles)

• generation of the entire measurement part program through an easy interface, with chaining of basic files and graphic presentation of the measurement path. Either off-line or on-line execution.

• creation of widely personalized color graphic output reports making measuring results easy to understand.

A powerful virtual environment allows remote programming of any CMM. Virtual probe qualification functions, generation and simulation of inspection strategies, tool path graphic editor and a powerful collision control allow to create a part program even without the physical workpiece and CMM, thus drastically reducing final inspection setup time.

Chorus CAD Nuvola Verify

This module allows the off-line metrological analysis of the part starting from data sets produced by DEA or non-DEA scanning and digitizing systems. The advanced graphic environment handles both the mathematical model and the scanning file concurrently. By using this module, the user can compare the point cloud generated by a digitizing system with the corresponding CAD model.

Chorus CAD Nuvola Rev Eng

Nuvola Rev Eng offers all means required for filtering, displaying and generating free-form surfaces starting from a 3D point cloud however compensated and digitized by either DEA or non-DEA systems. Starting from a point cloud, the user can reconstruct the mathematical model of the part according to the NURBS formalism.

Chorus CAD Rev Eng

This interactive module for point-to-point systems offers new solutions to make mathematical definition and analysis of free-form surfaces faster, easier and more precise. Chorus CAD Rev Eng allows to define the mathematical model as a subset of patches and geometrical features with the same approach as to a CAD system and faithful to the ideas of design analysis. This approach slashes time between product design and the start of mass production and also represents a tool for the inspection of the product.

The measurement tasks required for mathematical model generation and verification are automatically performed by Chorus CAD. Functions like dimensional and Gauss analyses, filleting and offsets make it possible to the designer to evaluate in real time the mathematical quality of generated surfaces. Surface are generated according to NURBS formalism. The mathematical model can be exported in IGES or VDA format. Advanced CAD functions of Chorus CAD make it possible to optimize the CAD file for final processing on CAD/CAM workstations.
