The Discovery was designed from the ground up to be a shop floor machine. The Discovery does not require compressed air and is fitted with hard wheels – allowing the machine to be easily moved and utilised anywhere on the shop floor. Formed from advanced composite materials and riding on hardened machine tool ways, the Discovery II is a natural for the shop floor and manufacturing cells.
The dampening effects of the mechanical bearings and advanced composites allow the Discovery II CMM to remain virtually unaffected by shop floor movement. It can retain its repeatability in the most inhospitable of conditions. Discovery II is the ideal solution for inspection at the point of production.

Hardened Machine Tool Bearings
Instead of air bearings, Discovery utilizes hardened machine tool recirculating ball bearings, running at just a fraction of their rated load. This contributes to long life, and lower maintenance costs. Since Discovery contains no air bearings, no air supply is needed, forget worrying about fouled air lines, or having air drops where you want to place the machine.
Discovery utilizes ballscrews to drive the x and y carriages; a precision positioning system that leads to great repeatability specifications.
Portable
Every Discovery comes with a movable stand with locking casters. Since the only hook-up required is an electrical outlet, you can place it nearly anywhere, and move it any time you like. In most cases, a recalibration is not necessary after it's been moved. This feature makes the Discovery perfect for cellular manufacturing environments, where reconfiguration of cells is not an option.
The ONE CMM is designed to work in the production environment. It is characterized by an innovative design that incorporates new technology and advanced materials. Its steel guide-ways and linear recirculating ball bearings eliminate the need for compressed air supply, so that it can be placed close to where you need it, to verify your production processes and product quality.
