Portable 3D scanning - chose Infinite with Perceptron 3D Scanning

Perceptron’s portable 3D scanning solution provides users flexible, accurate, portable and user-friendly scanning with advanced 3rd party point cloud handling software integration support. A typical portable scanning solution consists of an articulated measuring arm (portable CMM), a Perceptron system and a 3rd party point cloud handling software for either reverse engineering or inspection applications. Users can scan and process up to a million points per minute within their choice of reverse engineering or inspection application software.

3D scanning meets your complex requirements

Is 3D scanning the answer to your manufacturing needs? What if you learned there were 3D scanning solutions that were high quality, comprehensive and supported by expert professionals? And what if you learned that these same solutions were portable, so that instead of bringing your part or artifact to the measuring machine, you could bring the measuring machine wherever you needed it? Sound too good to be true? For some manufacturers, it may be. But Perceptron is already making it happen with its portable 3D scanning solutions.

Perceptron makes 3D scanning truly portable, offering a system comprised of unique and well-engineered components that are effective and easy to use. You choose the size and feature set of the portable coordinate measuring machine (PCMM) that works best for your needs. Working with the PCMM, the ScanWorks® 3D sensor synchronizes the data points it acquires with the position of the localizer (arm or other mover device) to create profiles. These profiles are joined together to form the digital three-dimensional topography of the object you scan. The result is a set of point cloud data, which you can use in a variety of ways, depending on the requirements of your specific application.

Perceptron offers a complete solution

Some manufacturers might consider that enough. But Perceptron's portable 3D scanning solution is not a partial offering, it's a complete system with all the components you need to capture, store, and process the results. The ScanWorks® controller and cables connect all the components in the system. As with many systems, the brains of the solution can be found in Perceptron's ScanWorks® software, which can be run on a laptop computer. The ScanWorks® software ensures that the point cloud data captured by the PCMM is efficiently processed and stored so that it can be accessed by whatever third party point cloud handling software you choose. What's more, the ScanWorks® application can integrate with select point cloud handling software to provide seamless capture and processing flows.

The experts at Perceptron designed their portable 3D scanning system as a true end-to-end solution. For that reason, a complete system solution includes a localizer, appropriate scanner set, software, training, and the support you need to get started. For instance, the ScanWorks® Calibration Sphere Kit included with the set includes software, a spherical artefact, and a set of processes you complete to ensure that the entire system setup is functional, accurate and appropriate for your application. Completing the process helps familiarize you with the capture process, while ensuring a high quality calibration of the system.

Trust Perceptron for the quality you need.

Besides the comprehensive portable scanner system, Perceptron also offers solutions for automatic coordinate measuring machines, as well as robotic systems. These systems are useful in a number of different scenarios, such as quality and conformity measurements and inspections. Using a robotic system or including automatic coordinate measuring can increase throughput while significantly diminishing costs by reducing rework and scrap material. Wherever you have the need for laser scanners, Perceptron has the solution.

In the business of scanner technology for over 24 years, Perceptron has earned the trust and the business of many major manufacturing firms. Its service and support also sets them apart, with local level resellers providing a helping hand that extends from a large and trusted company. For a variety of applications, including inspection and measurement, reverse engineering, part replication, and artefact preservation, Perceptron has the solution that will best fit your needs.
