| TESASCAN INSPECTS DIAMETER PARTS IN SECONDS The TESASCAN is a flexible non-contact measurement system for the inspection of the external features of round parts. TESASCAN has been developed for high throughput applications. New high-speed video processing technology affords a five-fold increase in the speed of data acquisition over previous systems, and measurement points can be collected at a rate of up to 12,000/sec. Additionally, rotation is incorporated as a standard function for dynamic measurement. The optical sensors of TESASCAN analyze the projected image of the workpiece and are not sensitive to material type, colour or ambient light level. Workpiece movement is controlled by a maintenance free, high precision guide rail system that allows linear speeds of up to 150 mm/sec. A typical part program with 30 dimensions can be run in less than 15 seconds. TESASCAN is designed for diameter parts and is affordable by smaller manufacturers. The mounting points for all optical and mechanical components, as well as the controller, are integrated into a single light alloy casting. This creates an extremely rigid structure that minimizes the effects of deformation due to inertial loads and temperature gradients. The high structural integrity of the system and the protection of the optical components result in a machine that is suitable for use in a production environment. TESASCAN uses PRO-MEASURE operating software, which runs on the Windows platform. PRO-MEASURE is designed specifically for the inspection of 2D and dynamic features of round, shaft-like work pieces and offers the benefits of very high speed programming via an image of the workpiece. The software’s graphic user interface makes it easy for operators of any skill level to become proficient quickly. The software also offers flexible report formatting, including the integration of logos and bit mapped images. | Features Example of Tesascan 50+ | | Dynamic Measurement Rotation is a standard function of the inspection process, allowing rotary scanning of the workpiece for highly accurate measurement of the part geometry and shape, also with high speed.
2D measurement The part profile is obtained by scanning along the part axis. A 2D image projection is produced as the workpiece diameter and length are measured simultaneously.
Operating Principle The TESA SCAN incorporate high-resolution CCD linear sensors. Each sensor is subdivided into thousands of light sensitive pixels. When the part image is projected, these sensors, which act as light sensitive rulers, can detect the slightest changes at sub-pixel level. The workpiece is illuminated with parallel white light and its image is projected onto the linear CCD sensors, which are inclined to 7,5 degrees. They provide the information obtained from the image, which allows accurate analysis of the geometry of the workpiece features.
Thread Measurement External threads are an important feature of round parts and their measurement is a high labour intensive operation. The true profile of any thread form can be obtained with either of the TESA SCAN and PROFILE machines. To measure shape and sizes or check worm threads, TESA SCAN 50 Plus also offer a mechanism for tilting the workpiece through the helix angle to view the profile in its true size.
Form and Shape Measurement Sophisticated round part applications that involve form and shape measurement are easily carried out owing to a flexible programming facility. |
